Can dental implants help?

The benefits of dental implants are:

  • Permanent solution for missing single, multiple, or even all teeth
  • Natural look and feel compared to traditional tooth replacements such as dental bridges or dentures (Plate)
  • Easy maintenance and cleaning
  • Dental Implants are more durable and longer-lasting than other tooth replacement options

What is a dental implant & what are my payment options?

What is a dental implant?

It is essentially an artificial tooth that is placed permanently in your jaw.  The implant itself is made from a titanium core and this fuses to the bone in your jawbone.  An artificial crown is then mounted on top of this core and will look like your natural tooth.

Dental implant can be used to replace a single tooth or multiple missing teeth or even the etire jaw.  They are comfortable and look great.

What are the components of a dental implant?

A Dental implant have several components:

  • A fixture (or implant body) made from biocompatible surgical grade titanium artificially replaces tooth roots and provides an anchor for the overlying crown or bridge.
  • An abutment serves to connect the implant body and the artificial crowns, bridges, or dentures.
  • The crown, bridge, or denture which replaces your missing teeth to give you back your full smile!

Types of Dental Implants

The Implant procedure:

We will listen to your concerns and expectations and Dr Jaafar will then do a comprehensive examination & assess your suitability for dental implants. We will take a cone beam (3d) digital x-ray to assess your bone quality and quantity. This will help us to do accurate treatment planning. We will then book your next appointment to discuss your options with you.

Planning and discussion

Your dentist will discuss your treatment options with you in detail, so that you can make an informed decision. This is the most important appointment, as we need to decide on a treatment that meets your expectations. It’s important not to rush through this stage and we will give you time to ask all your questions. One thing you may wish to discuss is if you wish to have your next appointment (implant placement) under Sleep Dentistry (IV Sedation) or local anaesthetic.

At this appointment we will place your implant. This can be done under Sleep dentistry (IV Sedation) or local anaesthetic. If the implant is for a single tooth, then the procedure is fairly straightforward as the implant will be surgically inserted in the gap left behind by the missing tooth. Dr Jaafar will either use surgical guide or make a small incision in your gum and then places the dental implant or dental implants.

Next, we will take an impression of your dental implant/implants.  This is for designing and manufacturing your crown, bridge, or denture.  At this appointment it is important to choose the correct and desired colour/shade.  Remember, the colour or shade of your crown/bridge or denture does not change by teeth whitening. Don’t worry, the expert team at Castle Hill Dental Care will be able to help you make this decision.

Dr Jaafar will place your crown, bridge or denture and will give you detailed instructions on how to care for them. Following these instructions at home is the key to success. Dental implants are a long-term solution and can last up to 25 years, with proper care. Congratulations on your beautiful new smile and thank you for trusting us.

How long does it take to recover from implant treatment?

It depends on the how much of site preparation we do prior to implant placement.  For example, bone grafting can add 4-18 months to treatment time.  Generally, the recovery times are as follows:

  • A simple implant without bone graft: Immediate recovery takes 2-6 weeks depending on individual healing ability.  Following this, the implant takes 3-6 months to integrate with your jawbone and strengthen to support your overlying tooth replacements.
  • Simple Bone graft and Implant: immediate recovery can take 2-6 weeks.  Bone regeneration will take 4-6 months.
  • Complicated bone graft (such as sinus lift) and Implant: immediate recovery takes 2-6 weeks.  Bone regeneration takes about 18 months.

This may sound a long time but repairing many years of bone loss in 4-18 months is not too long.  Dental implants are big investments and letting nature take its course is the best guarantee.  For more questions Contact Us.

We have 0% interest payment options for up to 4 years.  This makes the cost of dental implants more affordable for you.  We also use a third party company, Super Care, if you wish to apply for early release of you auper.

Is dental implant right for me?

It all depends how you feel about your smile and the quality of your life.  Your teeth serve many functions and are not just for eating.  Many older generations used dentures and managed to survive to their 100’s.  For many people, your teeth will be about your smile, your self-esteem and your confidence.  Teeth are also important for your overall health.  Before you invest in your smile by considering dental implants you should answer these questions.

Do you want:

  • To have a beautiful natural smile?
  • To commit to 4-18 months of treatment time?
  • Teeth that look and function like my own natural teeth?
  • A hassle-free replacement for your missing teeth?

If your answer is “Yes” to one or more of these questions, then dental implants may be right for you.
