What are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are a thin but strong porcelain or composite ‘shell’ permanently bonded to the tooth’s surface to treat a range of cosmetic issues associated with the front teeth. They can be made from Gold ( very rarely is requested), composite resin (filling material) or porcelain (the most Common).
They can instantly improve the look and feel of your natural teeth by masking:
- Gaps between teeth
- Irregularly shaped teeth
- Chipped teeth
- Permanent staining or discolouration
- Crooked or uneven teeth

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are nail thin (0.3mm-1.0mm) shells of hand-made porcelain fabricated in dental lab which are bonded to the surface of the tooth. They are custom-fit to your teeth to ensure they help you achieve your aesthetic expectations.
These veneers are resistant to staining and are very durable in nature, however, require two visits for completion.
Composite Veneers
These veneers are done in the dental practice and are built on your teeth layer by layer to cover the underlying tooth surface. It is an extremely delicate and technique sensitive process which requires a longer-in chair appointment however it is often done in one appointment.
These veneers do tend to be less durable than their porcelain counterparts but can be readily repaired chairside if chipped.

---|---|---|

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do veneers last?
Veneers are made to last for years if cared for well. Porcelain veneers can last 7-20 years whilst composite veneers can last 5-7 years.
Over time, the gum tissue may undergo changes and require alterations to your veneers to ensure that you keep your perfect smile.
Just like natural teeth, excessive biting or chewing on sharp or hard objects can also damage the veneers. Depending on the extent of damage, a repair or replacement for the veneers may be required. To ensure the longevity of your Veneers, regular maintenance checkups are highly recommended.
How much will they cost?
The cost of veneers is highly dependent upon the number of veneers desired and an estimate can be given to you following an initial consultation appointment with your Castle Hill dentist. The cost of veneer depending on the material of choice can vary from $450-$1300 each. For health insurance card-holders, a portion of the treatment costs can be claimed depending on your level of cover.
We understand your smile is an investment and to ensure you can get the treatment you need when you need it, our clinic also offers a range of Flexible Interest-Free* Payment Options.
What are minimal prep or ``No-prep`` veneers?
This is an alternative treatment to traditional veneers. They are so called because there is little to no tooth removal before placement of the veneers which allows the treatment to be faster and more comfortably. However, it is not suitable for all patients and may not produce the superior aesthetic results achievable with traditional veneers.

Do porcelain Veneers Stain?
Porcelain veneers never stain, however, good oral hygiene and regular maintenance is recommended to ensure the aesthetic and longevity of the Veneers are maintained.
