What are Dentures?
Dentures are a removable tooth replacement option to help give you back your teeth so you can eat the foods you love, speak clearly and smile confidently.
At Castle Hill Dental Care, each denture is carefully crafted for every patient to ensure a comfortable fit and natural smile.
Dentures can help to:
- Restore your facial shape
- Replace single or multiple teeth
- Improve your ability to eat and speak
- Protect your remaining teeth from excessive wear
Types:
Full (Complete) Dentures
These are removable devices for patients that require ALL teeth to be replaced in the upper jaw, lower jaw or both. Complete dentures are made from acrylic and allow replacement of the teeth and surrounding soft tissues. They can be characterized for better aesthetic and more natural look.
Partial Dentures
These are removable devices for patients requiring replacement of some missing teeth and can be made with metal (Chrome Cobalt) or acrylic.
The teeth are made from acrylic and come in different shapes and colours in order to match your existing teeth and give you a natural smile.
Immediate Dentures
These dentures can be partial or full and are inserted immediately after your teeth are removed to ensure you can be confident with your appearance right after tooth removal. However, because they are fabricated from the shape of your gums prior to the extraction, you may need several adjustments to ensure they fit properly as your gums heal and also reline after 3-4 months for better fit and stability.
This is a suitable option for those who are concerned about having missing teeth for several weeks.

Implant-supported Dentures or Overdentures:
These can be removable or semi-fixed devices which are held in place by permanent dental implants secured in the jaw and can replace all or some missing teeth.

Telescopic Dentures:
These are removable devices supported by 2-6 natural teeth with telescopic (cone-shaped) crowns or other forms of attachments which can replace all or some teeth.
The telescopic dentures work similarly to implant supported dentures but fit over your natural remaining teeth and gums to help support and stabilise the denture.
In order to do so, your natural teeth are prepared and fitted with custom-made cone-shaped crowns onto which the dentures can fit. The cone-shaped crown is fixed in your mouth whilst the denture itself can be removed.
These dentures are:
- A cheaper treatment option compared to implant supported dentures
- Easy to clean and repair whenever required
- Easy to remove and perform daily oral hygiene routines.

Denture Repair:
Although with the new technologies and advances in materials dentures are stronger, dentures are still at high risk of damage and fractures. The fracture can happen for many reasons such as dropping, under chewing load fatigue and more.
Denture breakage can happen at the most inconvenient time and cause a lot of stress. At Castle Hill Dental Care, we understand how important the denture is to you for function and aesthetic. That is why we try our best to repair it in same day* so you can attend your special occasion or enjoy your long weekend with confidence and worry-free.
